An estimated eight or ten million landmines and unexploded live explosives have been laid throughout the Cambodian territory and are still laid daily. Landmines represent a major risk for this population, especially for returnees from the camps of Thailand. Underestimated during the United Nations peacekeeping in Cambodia, this risk is still closely conditioning relations between Cambodians, their cultural space and their environment ; further more compromises long term development schemes.
