%X A multifactorial and complex system explains an indiviudal's state of health. The level of a society's knowledge, beliefs and values all work together to govern the original perceptions of pathogenic risks, morbidity and remedies. As a result of these factors, cultural strategies are derived, whose practices model cultural areas of disease. By ignoring these sources of incomprehension, we compromise the success of certain schemes to achieve a better state of health for populations. (Résumé d'auteur)
