The native chronicler Guaman Poma has attached particular importance to the city as the place of colonial rule in a work undertaken around 1585, half a century after the conquest of the Inca Empire by Spain, and completed around 1615. The text and pictures of the Peruvian codex express an unusual vision of urban cultural continuation and change which are brought about by colonisation. (Résumé d'auteur)
