One of the major socio-geographical features of Cameroon's South-West Province is the important presence of Nigerian migrants, which can be explained by a conjunction of economic, historical and political factors. Traditionally organized in acephalous societies in South-East Nigeria, most Nigerians of the diaspora are gathered in the Nigerian Union in Cameroon, a unique powerful and hierarchical structure defending their socio-political and economic interests. The Union is a typical diaspora phenomenon largely stemming from the spatial exigencies of migration. (Résumé d'auteur)
