A number of geographers have espoused it, notably Joel Bonnemaison in his doctoral thesis. In adopting it for my own thesis research in the Carribean, I highlight the continuities between Vanuatu and Martinique, and, in so doing, endeavour to reveal the message he sought to deliver.
