Mutation by UV light resulted in the isolation of A. niger strains geared towards high pectinase production in either SSF or SFM but never in both. Water activity plays an essential role on the levels of activity of specific enzymes. Mutated strains showed growth and sporulation patterns distinguishable by morphometric techniques, when cultured on defined media. (Résumé d'auteur)
