%X In the Callejon Interandino (the plateau between the two cordilleras), where eroded volcanic soils (cangahua) are present, a survey has been done to estimate the proportion and methods of reclamation of these soils. Other topics such as family structure, agricultural production unit (PU) area, crops and yields have also been studied. results have shown that small farmers have a low educational level and small PU. Nearly all of them are poor. In these conditions cangahua reclamation is practised in order to increase the PU area. Although crop yields are very low, they are quite similar to those obtained from cropland soils. (Résumé d'auteur).
