@inproceedings{fdi:010012922, title = {{R}uissellement et {\'e}rosion sur des parcelles de cangahua r{\'e}habilit{\'e}e (p{\'e}riode 1994-1996)}, author = {{D}e {N}oni, {G}eorges and {V}iennot, {M}arc and {T}rujillo, {G}. and {C}ustode, {E}.}, editor = {}, language = {{FRE}}, abstract = {{I}n the highlands of {E}cuador, the response to an increase in alimentary needs leads to extend cultivable lands. {U}nder these conditions, the reclamation of the pyroclastic hardened volcanic soils by mechanical woorks is a vital necessity. {H}owever the new soil material which has been roturated and disagregated, presents such a susceptibility that it becomes important to protect it against erosion. {I}n order to offer sustainable alternatives, experimental studies have been undertook in two experimental stations located in the interandean valley next to {Q}uito (2,500 - 2,900 m), in a subhumid to subarid climate with two dry seasons (2 to 4 months). {T}he field experiment was carried out during 2 cultural years, in small runoff plots where daily runoff, erosion and rain have been measured. {I}n oat plots, conservative cultural practices have been tested: acover with a pre-irrigated oat, a flat terrace, a pervious check dam with cangahua blocks, in comparison with a reference plot. {O}n the reference plot, results swowed that erosion and runoff were important despite a weak erosivity (80<{R}us<100); moreover, erosion hazards might occur at any time during the year. {T}he cover effect was important and increased according to the development of the oat. {A}s far as the erosion was concerned, weak erosion was observed between the treatments but these differences were significant when compared to the reference plot; the behaviour of the runoff was complex. {T}he technique using previous check dams with cangahua blocks must be recommended for the good results it gave, its low cost and the easy acceptation by peasants.
