  abstract = {{A} rescue excavation of an archaeological structure has yielded potsherds and wood charcoal. {A} 14{C} date of 1565 +/- 140 bp ({A}rc-490) puts the ceramics in an {E}arly {I}ron {A}ge. {C}harcoal has been identified. {I}t comes from wood species of poor burning quality. {I}t is thought that most of the woods were used for a magical/ ritual purpose. {T}he ceramics have no parallels elsewhere in {C}ongo or in neighbouring countries like {G}abon and {Z}a{\¨ie}re.
