As water content increases, electrical resistivity decreases following an exponential law R = a(e(exp b/Hp)). The a regression parameter is correlated with the particle size distribution allowing to classify the soil samples. This parameter decreases with clay and silt content and increases with sand content. During a field survey, soils are at different water contents and this variability must be taking in account. When the relationship R versus Hp is known, we calculate the R0,2 value which is the electrical resistivity at a reference water content proposed as 0,20 g/g. If the relationship is unknown, we can measure at two given periods two couples (R, Hp), determine a, b parameters considering an arbitrary exponential law and then obtain the R0,2 value.
