@article{fdi:010009582, title = {{H}ydrocarbon generation in relation to thrusting in the sub {A}ndean zone from 18 to 22°{S}, {B}olivia}, author = {{M}oretti, {I}. and {B}aby, {P}atrice and {M}endez, {E}. and {Z}ubieta, {D}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{F}ormation of the {B}olivian eastern cordillera started at the end of the {O}ligocene and continues to the present day with thrusting affecting the {S}ub {A}ndean {Z}one since late {M}iocene. {T}he "classical" source rock is the {D}evonian, but the {S}ilurian interval has some potential. {T}heir initial original potential is not high but they are thick (700 m, {L}os {M}onos {F}m) and may be thicker still due to stacking in thrust duplexes. {T}he three phases of sedimentation during the {T}ertiary each start with conglomeratic deposits and are discordant over the previous one. {S}eismic data allow us to correlate these steps with three periods of tectonic accretion : {L}ate {M}iocene ({T}ariquia {F}m), {P}liocene ({G}uandacay {F}m) and {P}lio-{Q}uaternary ({E}mborozu {F}m). {M}odelling demonstrates two phases of hydrocarbon generation. {A} first phase from {D}evonian to {C}arboniferous is due to the deepening of the {P}alaeozoic basin. {T}he second phase of maturation is due to the {T}ertiary deposits in the foreland and under the piggyback basins. {T}he central aera ({S}anta {C}ruz) has never been more deeply buried than during the {P}alaeozoic and has been a high during the {T}ertiary.
