These ablutions are, in this paper, at first analysed as cultural behavior. Indeed, if we replace in the whole of dictates bonds to women kind, they can be regarded basically as a ritual. On the other hand - and it concerns the second part of our study - from a pharmacological point of view, the components and properties of the plants needed in this particular female hygiene are here examined through their uses in other ethnic groups and through phytochimical data. The different virtues of these plants may confirm the epidemiological interest of this practice.
