  abstract = {{T}he analysis of components of the remedies given to {G}ouro babies in {I}vory {C}oast to keep them chubby (to put on weight/child/drug) and of the diseases that these remedies are supposed to protect them from, show that, although drugs or diseases vary according to families, this variability allows -for each entity (nosological category or plant)- a space of acceptability in which variations occur by contiguity according to the polythetic mode. {T}he analysis of the symptomatology of the diseases on one hand and the range of activity on the other hand, shows congruent structures if the analysis is considered from a relevant point of view, that of body deterioration and patients. {T}he aim is to avoid impairment of the vital fluids after a loss of fluids due to diarrhea or dryness due to fever. {T}he ethnopharmacological survey must use the symptomatology and the semiology of the studied medicine.
