@article{PAR00015363, title = {{M}olecular epidemiology reveals genetic diversity among 363 isolates of the {C}ryptococcus neoformans and {C}ryptococcus gattii species complex in 61 {I}vorian {HIV}-positive patients}, author = {{K}assi, {F}. {K}. and {D}rakulovski, {P}. and {B}ellet, {V}. and {K}rasteva, {D}. and {G}atchitch, {F}. and {D}oumbia, {A}. and {K}ouakou, {G}. {A}. and {D}elaporte, {E}ric and {R}eynes, {J}. and {M}allie, {M}. and {M}enan, {H}. {I}. {E}. and {B}ertout, {S}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{C}ryptococcal meningitis is a severe opportunistic infection in {HIV}-infected patients. {I}n {I}vory {C}oast, despite the availability of antiretroviral treatment ({ART}), this infection is still prevalent. {T}he study investigates the genetic diversity of 363 clinical isolates of {C}ryptococcus from 61 {I}vorian {HIV}-positive patients, the occurrence of mixed infections and the in vitro antifungal susceptibility of the isolates. {S}erotyping was performed via {LAC}1 and {CAP}64 gene amplification. {G}enotyping was performed using the phage {M}13 core ({GACA})(4) and ({GTG})(5) primers and restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis of the {URA}5 gene. {B}y {PCR} fingerprinting, the presence of the three serotypes were demonstrated among the 363 isolates in the population studied: {A} (n=318; 87.6%), {AD} (n=40; 11%) and {B} (n=4; 1.1%). {U}sing {PCR} fingerprinting with primers {M}13 ({GACA})(4) and ({GTG})(5), we grouped the isolates into 56 molecular subtypes. {W}e observed a high frequency (39.3%) of mixed infections, with up to two different genotypes per sample. {N}one of the isolates were resistant to amphotericin {B}. {O}nly 0.3% and 1.1% of the isolates were resistant to fluconazole and flucytosine respectively. {T}his study revealed the high genetic diversity among {C}ryptococcus isolates, the occurrence of mixed infections and a high antifungal susceptibility for the majority of {I}vorian cryptococcal isolates.}, keywords = {antifungal susceptibility ; cryptococcosis ; genetic diversity ; genotyping ; mixed infection ; {COTE} {D}'{IVOIRE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{M}ycoses}, volume = {59}, numero = {12}, pages = {811--817}, ISSN = {0933-7407}, year = {2016}, DOI = {10.1111/myc.12539}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/{PAR}00015363}, }
