@article{PAR00014565, title = {{G}eochemistry and zircon {U}-{P}b geochronology of the ultramafic and mafic rocks emplaced within the anatectic series of the {V}ariscan {P}yrenees : the example of the {G}avarnie-{H}eas dome ({F}rance)}, author = {{K}ilzi, {M}. {A}. and {G}r{\'e}goire, {M}ichel and {B}osse, {V}. and {B}enoit, {M}. and {D}riouch, {Y}. and de {S}aint {B}lanquat, {M}. and {D}ebat, {P}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he origin and evolution of ultramafic ({UM}), mafic ({M}) and intermediate rocks emplaced within the metamorphic and anatectic series of the middle crust of the {V}ariscan segment of the {P}yrenees are defined in the light of new isotopic data {U}-{P}b zircon ages, and {S}r, {N}d isotopic ratios. {I}n the {G}avarnie-{H}eas dome (central {P}yrenees), ultramafic, mafic and intermediate rocks form three massifs several kilometers in size emplaced within the anatectic series: (i) the {G}loriettes massif, which mostly consists of norites with enclaves of ultramafic rocks; (ii) the {T}roumouse massif, which comprises intermediate rocks (gabbro-diorite and diorite) with norite enclaves, and (iii) the {A}guila massif, which consists of intermediate rocks with homblendite enclaves. {U}-{P}b zircon geochronology (first data for these rock types in the {A}xial {Z}one of the {P}yrenees) revealed an age of 294 {M}a for the diorite crystallization and correlatively for the crystallization of the anatectic granite. {T}his new radiometric age allows us to suggest that the {V}ariscan orogeny continued at least until the {E}arly {P}ermian and spread over around 30 {M}a. {T}he {N}d and {S}r isotopic compositions of all {UM} and {M} samples plot within the field of the continental crust. {T}wo scenarios can explain the genesis and the emplacement of the components of the magmatic suite: i) evolution of mantle melts and contamination ({AFC}); ii) evolution of melts originating from a heterogeneous source (mantle + crust) at the local or regional scale. {T}he strong crustal affinity of all {UM} and {M} rock types from {G}avarnie-{H}eas leads us to favor the second scenario.}, keywords = {{G}avarnie-{H}eas dome ; {V}ariscan {P}yrenees ; {U}ltramafic rocks ; {M}afic to intermediate rocks ; {G}eochronology ; {G}eochemistry ; {E}arly {P}ermian ; {FRANCE} ; {PYRENEES}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{C}omptes {R}endus {G}eoscience}, volume = {348}, numero = {2}, pages = {107--115}, ISSN = {1631-0713}, year = {2016}, DOI = {10.1016/j.crte.2015.06.014}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/{PAR}00014565}, }
