@article{PAR00014562, title = {{P}ervasive, tholeiitic refertilisation and heterogeneous metasomatism in {N}orthern {V}ictoria {L}and lithospheric mantle ({A}ntarctica)}, author = {{P}elorosso, {B}. and {B}onadiman, {C}. and {C}oltorti, {M}. and {F}accini, {B}. and {M}elchiorre, {M}. and {N}taflos, {T}. and {G}r{\'e}goire, {M}ichel}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he petrology of peridotite xenoliths in the {C}enozoic volcanics from {G}reene {P}oint ({N}orthern {V}ictoria {L}and, {A}ntarctica) provides new constraints on the characterisation of the lithospheric mantle beneath the {W}est {A}ntarctic {R}ift. {B}ased on mineral major and trace element models, this mantle domain is proposed to represent a residuum after 10% and 20% partial melting. {M}oreover, melting models and isotopic results for {S}r and {N}d systematics highlight the substantial contribution of tholeiitic melts percolating through peridotites. {C}lose correlation with trace element contents in clinopyroxene phenocrysts from {F}errar and {K}aroo tholeiites allows us to ascribe this refertilisation event to the {J}urassic. {T}his asthenospheric melt was also able to transfer a garnet signature to the {N}orthern {V}ictoria {L}and mantle segment. {T}he rare presence of glass and secondary phases indicate that {G}reene {P}oint xenoliths were heterogeneously affected by alkaline metasomatism, probably related to the {W}est {A}ntarctic {R}ift {S}ystem opening; this has also been widely observed in other {N}orthern {V}ictoria {L}and localities (i.e., {B}aker {R}ocks). {T}emperature and f{O}(2) were calculated (950 degrees {C}; {D}elta log f{O}(2) ({QFM}), -1.70 to -0.39) at a fixed pressure of 15 kbar, confirming the tendency of the anhydrous {G}reene {P}oint xenolith population to have higher equilibration temperatures and comparable redox conditions, compared to the nearby amphibole -bearing peridotites from {B}aker {R}ocks.}, keywords = {{M}antle xenoliths ; {T}holeiitic refertilisation ; {G}arnet signature ; {ANTARCTIQUE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{L}ithos}, volume = {248}, numero = {}, pages = {493--505}, ISSN = {0024-4937}, year = {2016}, DOI = {10.1016/j.lithos.2016.01.032}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/{PAR}00014562}, }
