@article{PAR00011798, title = {{C}omparison between emerging {Q} {F}ever in {F}rench {G}uiana and endemic {Q} fever in {M}arseille, {F}rance}, author = {{E}douard, {S}. and {M}ahamat, {A}. and {D}emar, {M}. and {A}bboud, {P}. and {D}jossou, {F}. and {R}aoult, {D}idier}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{Q} fever is an emergent disease in {F}rench {G}uiana. {W}e compared the incidence clinical and serologic profiles between patients from {C}ayenne, {F}rench {G}uiana and {M}arseille in metropolitan {F}rance during a four-year period. {T}he annual incidence of diagnosed acute {Q} fever was significantly higher in {C}ayenne (17.5/100,000) than in {M}arseille (1.9/100,000) ({P} = 0.0004), but not the annual incidence of endocarditis (1.29 versus 0.34/100,000). {M}ost patients had fever (97%) and pneumonia (83%) in {C}ayenne versus 81% and 8% in {M}arseille ({P} < 0.0001 and {P} < 0.0001, respectively) but transaminitis was more common in patients from {M}arseille (54% versus 32%; {P} < 0.0001). {T}he proportion of patients with cardiovascular infections was significantly lower in {C}ayenne (7%) than in {M}arseille (17%) ({P} = 0.017), although they showed a stronger immune response with higher levels of phase {I} {I}g{G} ({P} = 0.024). {T}he differing epidemiology, clinical, and serologic responses of patients from {C}ayenne and {M}arseille suggest a different source of infection and a different strain of {C}oxiella burnetii.}, keywords = {{GUYANE} {FRANCAISE} ; {FRANCE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{A}merican {J}ournal of {T}ropical {M}edicine and {H}ygiene}, volume = {90}, numero = {5}, pages = {915--919}, ISSN = {0002-9637}, year = {2014}, DOI = {10.4269/ajtmh.13-0164}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/{PAR}00011798}, }
