Rickettsia felis, the agent of the emerging flea-borne spotted fever in humans, was identified in 17 (16%) C. felis cat fleas. Bartonella henselae, an agent of cat scratch disease, was identified in three (2.9%) C. felis. Our results emphasize the potential risk of these emerging flea-borne infections in Lebanon.
<targetAudience authority="marctarget">specialized</targetAudience><subject><topic>Bartonella henselae</topic><topic>Fleas</topic><topic>Lebanon</topic><topic>Rickettsia felis</topic></subject><classification authority="local">052 </classification><classification authority="local">080 </classification><relatedItem type="host"><titleInfo><title>Vector-Borne and Zoonotic Diseases</title></titleInfo><part><detail type="volume"><number>11</number></detail><detail type="issue"><number>7</number></detail><extent unit="pages"><start>991</start><end>992</end></extent></part><originInfo><dateIssued>2011</dateIssued></originInfo><identifier type="issn">1530-3667</identifier></relatedItem><identifier type="uri">http://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/PAR00007728</identifier><identifier type="doi">10.1089/vbz.2010.0146</identifier><location><physicalLocation>IRD Bondy</physicalLocation><shelfLocator/><url usage="primary display" access="object in context">http://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/PAR00007728</url></location><recordInfo><recordContentSource>IRD - Base Horizon / Pleins textes</recordContentSource><recordCreationDate encoding="w3cdtf">2011-08-03</recordCreationDate><recordChangeDate encoding="w3cdtf">2011-08-03</recordChangeDate><recordIdentifier>PAR00007728</recordIdentifier><languageOfCataloging><languageTerm authority="iso639-2b">fre</languageTerm></languageOfCataloging></recordInfo></mods></modsCollection>
