@article{PAR00003520, title = {{C}itrus orchard evapotranspiration : comparison between eddy covariance measurements and the {FAO}-56 approach estimates}, author = {{E}r-{R}aki, {S}. and {C}hehbouni, {A}bdelghani and {G}uemouria, {N}. and {E}zzahar, {J}. and {K}habba, {S}. and {B}oulet, {G}illes and {H}anich, {L}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he aim of this study was to use the {FAO}-56 single and dual crop coefficient approaches to estimate actual evapotranspiration ({ET}a) over an irrigated citrus orchard under drip and flood irrigations in {M}arrakech, {M}orocco. {T}he results showed that, by using crop coefficients suggested in the {FAO}-56 paper, the performance of both approaches was poor for two irrigation treatments. {T}he {R}oot {M}ean {S}quared {E}rror ({RMSE}) between measured and simulated {ET}a values over the citrus orchard under drip irrigation was about 1.43 and 1.27mm/day for the single and dual approaches, respectively, while the corresponding statistics for the orchard irrigated by the flooding technique was 1.87 and 2.48mm/day. {A}fter determination of the appropriate values of the crop coefficient ({K}c) based on eddy covariance measurements of {ET}a, the performance of both approaches greatly improved. {T}he obtained {K}c values were lower than the {FAO}-56 values by about 20%. {T}he low {K}c values obtained reflect the practice of drip irrigation for one field and the low value of cover fraction for the other field. {A}dditionally, the efficiency of the irrigation practices was investigated by comparing the measured {K}c for two fields. {T}he results showed that a considerable amount of water was lost by direct soil evaporation from the citrus orchard irrigated by flooding technique.}, keywords = {{C}rop coefficient ; drip and flood irrigation ; citrus orchard ; semi-arid ; region}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{P}lant {B}iosystems}, volume = {143}, numero = {1}, pages = {201--208}, ISSN = {1126-3504}, year = {2009}, DOI = {10.1080/11263500802709897}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/{PAR}00003520}, }
